CELEBRITY BEAUTY BRANDS ON THE RISE! JLO, KERRY & SERENA JOIN IN
Celebrities are taking the beauty industry by storm, with Fenty Beauty, KKW Beauty and Kylie Cosmetics leading the personality-driven category. It’s not much of a surprise that more personalities are deciding to follow suit. Actress and longtime spokesperson for Neutrogena, Kerry Washington has collaborated with the skincare brand to create her very own make up collection. For this, Kerry has released two palettes, the Essential Eye and Cheek Palettes which come in neutral shades. “The beauty industry can feel so intimidating and complicated,” she told MarieClaire.com, “so I wanted to create a palette that would be an easy, go-to toolkit that you can use no matter where you are, and no matter what you’re doing.”
According to multiple reports, Neutrogena didn’t have a shade for Washington until she signed on. Are we the only people who didn’t know Neutrogena also dabbled in make-up? “When I first joined the company, Neutrogena was really invested in growing the foundation line — and growing the cosmetics line in general,” she told Refinery29. “Continuing to grow the line to be more inclusive is a priority for the company and for me!” This is a huge step for Kerry, and this could mean a similar move is on the horizon for Nomzamo Mbatha, who is the local ambassador for Neutrogena, should the brand decide to roll out its cosmetics lines in SA. The woman who has the world’s most enviable Glow, J-Glow aka JLo, has confirmed that she will be launching a makeup range alongside one of the world’s leading manufacturers in colour cosmetics, Inglot. “A makeup line seemed like a natural progression since people are always asking about the products I use and how I get the glow to my skin,” Lopez told Women’s Wear Daily. The make up line is set to launch with an impressive 70 items including eye shadows, lipsticks, palettes, blushes, highlighters, bronzers and even nail polishes. JLo’s collaboration with Inglot launches April 26th.
According to TMZ, Serena Williams is joining in! The tennis superstar has reportedly filed documents to trademark “Aneres” (her name spelled backwards) in a range of beauty categories, including skin care, makeup-removing products, colognes, perfumes, makeup kits, bath soaps, lipstick, lipgloss, eye shadow, eyeliner and mascara.
