Growing up I wish I had the knowledge I have today when it comes to gay sex (bottoming).

For almost 28 years of my life, I navigated gay sex through the lens of my heterosexual female friends who let’s be honest didn’t know and still don’t know the first thing about gay sex. It wasn’t until I found a tribe of gay men who helped and still help me navigate these very treacherous waters.

Through open and honest conversations with these amazing men, I discovered the road to a healthy colon and released the dread of bottoming. My stance on sex was very archaic, to say the least. I went through the very gruesome tasks of starving myself for two days, douching like silly, and even taking laxatives to ensure I don’t leave the Sistine Chapel on any sheets and God knows that this process has killed spontaneity on several occasions because I’d be uncomfortable, even scared to attempt anything without my age-old ritual. Apparently, a little mess is okay, but certainly not for me. I know, I sound like a prude, but my momma taught me better than that.

This hours-long ritual through extensive research has taught me that over-douching is actually unhealthy for your colon because it strips away good bacteria from your colon and reduces the mucus that assists with keeping you lubricated for seamless slip-and-slide.

Over these fun and honest conversations with like-minded gay men, I discovered two things, psyllium husk and a green smoothie that consists of chia seeds, kale, kiwi, spinach, and cucumber to assist with my regularity to ensure that I never or at least seldom find a boy’s bed looking like Art Basel.

The trick to the above-mentioned is to take psyllium husk twice a day, an hour before your meal, and keep it going with the juice all day long. These are high in fibre and assist with keeping you regular and ready for almost anything. I also learnt that having a diet that is high in fibre is a plus, so outside of the green juice and psyllium husk have a diet that’s high in fibre and happy bottoming.
